Philosophy & Vision
Life presents us with challenges and problems throughout our lives. Although I believe that everyone has within them the capacity to work through these challenges I know that sometimes the way does not seem clear and it is at these times that guidance and support from a professional is invaluable. Seeking help from a therapist takes courage and I see that my role is to create a supportive space for you to uncover the resources you need to move your life forward.
Background
Before undertaking formal qualifications as a psychologist I was actively involved in helping individuals achieve their full potential in the corporate arena through coaching executives and facilitating leadership and team development workshops. My interest expanded into mental health and I spent some years working within a psychiatric setting where I gained great personal satisfaction from seeing individuals recover from crisis and move on to re-engage with their lives.
I have worked predominately in private practice since then and continue to gain immense satisfaction from assisting people to overcome their problems and achieve their personal goals.
Services
I offer short, medium and long term psychotherapy and counselling services for individuals. I have undertaken extensive training in emotionally focused therapy. I have also undertaken extensive training and supervision in the Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapeutic model. I have a particular interest in treating complex trauma. I combine IFS, Emotionally Focused Therapy and EMDR to assist the individual process traumatic events and reconnect with a valued life over the course of medium to long term therapy.
Quality Provision
I take pride in assuring the best quality service for all my clients. As a member of the Australian Psychological Society I am bound by that organizations code of conduct. I receive regular clinical supervision in addition to on-going Professional Development programs and workshops to keep my skills current and up to date.
