Philosophy & Vision
I have been a psychotherapist and a counsellor for over forty years. My work is with people at the crossroads of their life, where undercurrents tend to challenge the very understanding of who we are and how the world is. I offer them respect, honesty, my skills and understanding as well as a safe and confidential relationship in which they can reflect more deeply upon the complex choices they are making.
Background
I was born and raised in New Zealand, moved to Queensland in 2009 and became an Australian citizen in 2014.
I have worked in the field of mental health for over forty years, including eight years as director of mental health therapeutic communities in England and in New Zealand and five years for Queensland Health as the principal designer and educator for the clinical supervision program for mental health services.
Most of my working life, though, has been in private practice, as a psychotherapist, counsellor, clinical supervisor and educator.
Services
I offer psychotherapy and counselling to individuals or couples.
I offer clinical supervision to individual practitioners or to small groups.
I also offer telephone and/or online sessions.
Quality Provision
I graduated as a psychotherapist and counsellor in 1982. I have had regular clinical supervision for my work over the past fifty years. I am a member of and supervisor for the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, past president of the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists and past president of the Australian Clinical Supervision Association.
