Philosophy & Vision
People come to therapy when they are experiencing emotional difficulties in their lives that are difficult to bear. Improvement in therapy goes beyond the relief of a specific problem. Through self-awareness and development we can improve the quality of a person's life. When I see a client, I endeavour to assist them to understand the nature of their difficulties as fully as possible, and to help them develop the skills to handle these difficulties in a way that can be of benefit to them.
Background
I have over 25 years experience in working with individuals whose circumstances in life have been challenging. My involvement with individuals has always centred around promoting awareness and understanding of the range of experiences they are struggling with. I have provided support to people from all walks of life: young people who are struggling to find their place in the world, mature adults confronted by realities that are proving excessively painful and difficult to deal with, are part of the population I attend to. Being a mature age therapist, my life and professional experiences have assisted me to engage well with those who seek my support, and provide them with the understanding needed to attend to the difficulties they face.
Services
When we talk about improvement in therapy we refer to a range of goals that go beyond the relief of the specific problem for which a person has sought help. Therapy usually concerns multiple and interacting problems rather than isolated symptoms; criteria for outcome include not just symptom relief but improvement in general functioning. In Analytically oriented therapy, therapist and patient are pursuing goals of general mental health that go beyond the removal of a particular disturbance. People who come to analytic therapy want to outgrow the difficulties that are causing them distress; they want to get to the attitudes and feelings that underlie their vulnerability.

Therapy Approach
I adopt a psychoanalytic approach in my work with individuals presenting with life difficulties. This approach allows for a deep human experience that enhances one's own self-understanding and leads to emotional insight. It's objectives include the ability to recognise and handle feelings, an expansion of the capacity to love and to work, and to depend appropriately on others, and the increase in one's experience of pleasure and serenity.
Short term and long term therapies are offered.
