Philosophy & Vision
With more than 30 years experience providing services, supervising and training others in my field, I bring a rich blend of knowledge and wisdom to my work with clients. I aim to assist those I work with to find solutions, balance and integration in their lives.
My work is underpinned by a belief in equality for all, and that we are all on a journey in life, sometimes difficult. The meaning of that for each individual is unique and sometimes very scary, but rich and enlightening.
Background
I have 30 years experience in my field. This has been gained in working in government, non government, corporate and private settings both in South Australia, interstate and overseas.
I provide workshops on many topics for other therapists.
Services
Sometimes it is hard to go it alone. Being held in a therapeutic conversational journey can help.
The rapid rate of change and seeming impermanency in our world means constant adaptation and constant readjustment.
I see individuals, couples and families for issues ranging from relationship work, anxiety, depression, life changes, grief and self development. Generally, I prefer to always see couples together if possible. Most couples come for approximately 6 one hour sessions.
I have trained in grief work, mental health, Trans-personal work, complex family dynamics, health issues, migration, abuse and trauma.
Quality Provision
I provide training consultancy to Government and non government organisations around practice excellence issues. I supervise and train other therapists.

I am skilled at attempting to understand what are important beliefs and experiences that my clients bring with them - it is their experiences, and knowledge that we work with.

A conversation with Moira Joyce
-
I am naturally focussed on others and what is going on for them, and am 'hard wired' to help find solutions to life issues.
I see us all facing some kind of suffering or difficulty at times, and this approach that we are all the same, underpins my work.
I also love people and their differences. -
I was very much influenced by a Jungian psychologist I studied under, so Analytical Psychology affected my early career. Then I was affected by Systems theory and Narrative Theory in a big way, so I took a much bigger wider perspective on what affects us, as well as my early study of the intra-psychic.
Lastly, Buddhist studies of meditation and Mindfulness and the interconnectedness of us all has profoundly opened up my work and compassion. Add the gentle view of humour in all situations to top it off. -
All of it! However, I am very interested in the relationships we chose to be in, or land in.
-
Although I have trained in dream work, and body work, It is mainly conversational and cognitive.
I have a multitude of therapeutic skills, but the persons and their situation determines which we use. -
If it is good 'fit' between myself and clients, then immediately.!
-
I am no better than anyone else, but I have been fortunate enough to use some wonderful methods, and meet some wonderful teachers to examine myself and my own actions as fully as possible so far in my life.
-
I am grateful that I have met some wonderful people in my consulting room and learned so much from them
