Philosophy & Vision

I have retired from full time work and I am not taking on new patients.
I am moving on to provide a group workshop based experience that is not therapeutic in form and is based on the meeting of eastern contemplative pracise and western psychology and science.

Background

I have 30 yrs experience working with people as a Psychologist and Psychotherapist, covering a broad range of mental health, personal and relationship issues. I am familiar with providing services with people who have been injured whilst at work.

I have trained in Psychodiagnostics, CBT, ACT, DBT, Sensorimotor therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family systems, Trauma work. I am currently studying in the field of Neuroscience applied to psychological processes.
I am a student of and a practitioner in Meditation and Buddhist Psychology. This encourages a foundation in Mindfulness, with a capacity to steady the mind leading to an approach to life which values compassion and care.
I have had extensive training in Couples Therapy

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, Assessment, Coaching / Mentoring, Workshops / Courses, Clinical Supervision, Phone Consultations, Online Video Consultations
  • During this stage of the Pandemic I am seeing people in my rooms and I have a hygiene protocol in place to maintain a safe environment. It is still possible to use a video platform if that is preferred.
I provide sessions over short term, or long term depending on the need, for individuals, couples, and parents,
A session is approx. 1 hour.
With a GP MHCP a service is rebated by Medicare with a gap payment where appropriate. 10 rebated sessions are possible per calendar year. When more sessions are required, we can make private arrangements. Private Health insurance rebates apply. I also engage in insurance related work, Workers Compensation and Income Protection Insurance when referred by the insurer.

    Quality Provision

I undertake ongoing professional development to enhance my knowledge and skills across a broad spectrum of individual and couples counselling and as part of my membership with the APS College of Clinical Psychologists. Therapy Approach

My approach is relational, I take a detailed history including a family history as this brings insight and understanding to the individual circumstances. Any historical trauma can be addressed so that solutions are present focused and beneficial to ongoing life. My approach is inclusive so that the individual is always able to influence our shared experience. Where the individual's context - relationships particular, are a part of the difficult experience I am open to looking at those aspects of life. My approach is respectful both to the individual's sensitivities and to any beliefs or concerns that they may have. My approach seeks to ensure that individuals feel better as a result of our contact and work together.
