An early interest in psychology during my first degree.

I have an eclectic approach to therapy and use whatever I believe will benefit the client.
I have studied many different approaches including CBT, Transactional Analysis. EMDR, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Schema Focussed Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Motivational Interviewing. -
After the first session they should have gained an understanding of how they can move forward and begin to regain a sense of self efficacy and hope in a non judgemental and safe environment. Therapy definitely requires the psychologist and the client to feel comfortable and be the right fit. You need to find a therapist who makes you feel validated and heard.
My aim is to help the client realise what they can do to help take control of the situation they are in and help them understand through psycheducatioin that they are not alone, and that they can begin to take charge of their own life again and make some positive changes which will eventually enable them to live a more fulfillling and meaningful life. It may take one session or it make take many sessions to achieve this goal depending upon their individual situation. Ultimately it is the client who decides. -
Knowledge is power. It has helped me be more understanding less judgemental and more able to make sense of the world. Having a very investigative personality I like to know why people act the way that they do. Having gone through some very challenging times myself I have appreciated the knowledge I have gained from the study of psychology and been able to utilise the many strategies and skills to help me live a more functional, rewarding and meaningful life.

Being able to help people reach their potential and seeing people able to do the most amazing things that they never believed were possible when they first came to therapy.
