Philosophy & Vision
Hello. My name is Jane. I am a registered art therapist who has worked as a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse. I offer art making for you to help you express things that you may think about or even that you do not understand.
I have a fully equipped art and sand play therapy studio where you may choose what materials to use..
I have a wealth of lived experiences so can understand many life situations that can cause grief, guilt and anxiety.
Background
I am a passionate advocate for those who have problems with anxiety, depression or other mental health issues.
I have many years experience as a credentialed mental health nurse (AHPRA).
I have also done short courses on mindfulness and cognitive and behavioural therapy.
I have always been creative and have completed many leisure courses in water colours, oil painting and fabric arts.
I graduated from La Trobe and I am a credentialed art therapist (AThR) with ANZACATA.
I have lived through many experiences for which I provide therapy including life events, loss and illnesses including major surgery.
I am a mother and grandmother.
Services
I offer a free 15 minute initial consultation by phone at a mutually convenient time. The first appointment is of a full hour during which I take a detailed history from you. This comprises me taking down a family history, including knowledge of any illnesses and/or major events. I discuss with you what is the present problem or situation which brings you to seek therapy. After this you may consider whether you wish to start therapy, since there is no pressure to decide immediately.
Quality Provision
Detailed notes at every session with complete privacy since your surname is not used.
Verbal communication to explain or consider other points of view at all times. I supply all materials for art making at a quiet private studio in Sandringham. I have comprehensive professional practice insurance.
