Philosophy & Vision
Good therapy has a focus. I offer a comfortable therapeutic space for you to work with holistic methods to navigate challenges, whether this is a difficult transition you are in, or whether you want to address long held trauma.
Re-connect to your innate groundedness, resourcefulness, freedom and peace. Deepen self-acceptance and tap into the deep lasting transformation that a therapeutic alliance can offer.
Background
Fourteen years experience
IFS "Parts Work" is a way of working which can be deeply effective. This gentle method helps you find balance, heal confused, fearful, "extreme" parts of your system and it taps into your innate wisdom.
Somatic Experiencing therapy: (SE) and Somatosensory Psychotherapy (SP) are naturalistic and powerful methodologies for healing both shock trauma and developmental trauma, based on the neurophysiology of the autonomic nervous system. The arousal energy in the body from these original responses to threat has not been completely processed and remains lodged in the nervous system, often manifesting in a range of mental and physical health problems.
Services
Open, practical and empathic. I support people in navigating challenging life transitions as well as healing deeper seeded issues that have resulted in trauma, PTSD, high anxiety and stress.
Each person requires a unique approach. For some there may be a benefit in mindfulness-based approaches; others may need recovery from over-immersion in meditation (true, this is a thing!) and instead to access much needed individual and grounded psychological work.

Early sessions focus on developing a shared understanding and goals so that we both know what we are there for. I draw from a range of models. A conversation with Mary A McIntyre

I have a passion for understanding people and offering the right help at the right time. Past challenges in my life such as high stress and chronic pain have shifted due to having had good therapy in various healing modalities. So I am a believer in effective work! This is what led me to study and go further.

Change starts early on : as soon as you notice a difference, something has changed.
Treatment is partially about learning how to notice differences in what you are feeling, sensing and thinking so that you can feed this growth and be more in sync with your inner and outer world. -
It has helped me grow in reflective capacity, patience, insight and courage with willingness to connect with a broad range of people.

I love the satisfaction of seeing people feel freedom and growth.

Naturally ! I have the same travails and challenges that beset most of us, trying to figure out what makes us human and humane and negotiating Life.
Oh- and I do regularly have actual 'bad hair' days ! -
Our lack of self compassion, self acceptance and too much focus on bolstering self esteem and outer achievement has sadly affected our capacity to connect to others, to give and receive love and feel fulfilled.
Untreated trauma can leave us struggling in relationships.
Another concern I share with many is our disconnection from the Mother Earth and from what sustains us - leading to more harm and sadly, more disconnection. -
