Philosophy & Vision
I believe people have the power to heal themselves from many wounds and pains, and once something is made conscious most people will naturally make healthy choices to facilitate a life where they love and feel loved. My aim is to help guide people through their unconscious or painful terrain in a way that they can't quite manage by themselves, to reclaim parts of themselves and detangle from experiences that no longer serve them, in order to live more fully and freely in the present.
Background
I saw my first patient as a psychologist in 2005 and have worked in the range of health settings since that time (Community based mental health clinics, inpatient wards/clinics, outpatient programs, both private and public hospitals) and I found that the freedom and authenticity offered by having my own private practice was the best version of psychology work for me.
I have been in my own private practice since 2008 and throughout this time I have focused on developing as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, and in more recent years I have developed a strong interest in EMDR as a more targeted, and often more rapid treatment option for more discrete issues. I have found that these two approaches are a great compliment to each other.
Services
My services include Psychodynamic Psychotherapy which is a less structured approach and is beneficial for pervasive problems that might bring a person to therapy - these include suffering mood & anxiety issues in multiple areas of life, experiencing problematic relationship patterns that are repeated irrespective of the other people involved, or pervasive avoidance behaviours which significantly decrease the quality & satisfaction of your life (including self-rejection).
I also offer EMDR which has shown great benefit in processing & integrating traumatic experiences which may otherwise feel stuck in some psychic place outside of time, & continue to be felt strongly or are avoided at all costs (often at the expense of living more fully).
Quality Provision
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA, and I am also a certified EMDR Practitioner.
Constant personal and professional development and improvement are deeply held values of mine, for these reasons I engage in frequent clinical supervision (beyond the minimum requirements for registration) and ongoing professional development in areas that rouse my interest and passion, this includes engagement in workshops, reading and seminar series as well as peer consultations.

Therapy Approach
Therapy typically involves joining as human beings to work together in building awareness of what has led you to seek therapy at this point in time, this includes what has happened recently but also what your experience of life has been so far; what lessons you may have learned, rightly or wrongly, about yourself & others, how relationships work, & ways to survive external & internal challenges. Sessions are encouraged to flow organically as I pay attention to past wounding, fears & unconscious themes, conflicts & defences that contribute to your suffering or complicating matters in the present. Once conscious awareness is gained, you will be more free to respond differently to your life's challenges. EMDR takes a more structured approach.
