A conversation with Nina Linder
-
I trained as a Registered Nurse and worked in Nursing for over 20 years. Life circumstances changed and I then worked in family services for many years working with adults and children who had experienced trauma. It was the knowledge about trauma that led me to return to university and attain a Master of Counselling.
-
I have a humanistic and eclectic approach that is adaptable for each unique individual.
-
Trauma is held in the body and can have negative effects on physical and emotional health if not addressed. The mind body connection is of a particular interest for which counselling can support positive outcomes for clients.
-
Narrative therapy, Compassion therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Emotion focussed therapy, Feminist theory, Polyvagal theory
-
Usually progress is made after the first session where clarity is increased - this is usually followed by the client's improved awareness of self, processing emotions and improved decision making.
-
Therapy has made me a more well rounded and well informed person - I have always been very compassionate but often not knowing how it can be of benefit to others. Now I have the skills and knowledge to support clients to become empowered and have more agency in their own lives.
-
I enjoy being able to address trauma symptoms of self blame and judgement - to see a client become less burdened by these thoughts and feelings is exciting.
