Philosophy & Vision
I founded Inner Space Psychological Services upon the idea that empowerment emerges from knowledge and skill development. People face many obstacles in life and for the most part are able to overcome them.
At times we need assistance and guidance in order to identify and manage these obstacles. With such assistance there is opportunity to move forward with new understanding and skills. Inner Space is about helping people find their balance through active participation.
Background
My experience spans more than 10 years with time spent in both the private and government sectors working for large organisations as well as small business.
Services
I am the principal psychological in a small locally run private practice offering a range of services. Together, my associates and I work with people of all ages including children through to older adults. We have an assessment specialist on our team as well as therapists who work primarily with children and adolescents. Personally, I work primarily with adults with PTSD though I also enjoy helping people find a life/work balance and obtain a full quality of life.
Quality Provision
At Inner Space we provide a comfortable environment away from the hustle and bustle so people have the space to focus. Like all therapists in the practice I am committed to providing a quality service meeting individual needs. My approach is reflected in my philosophy that sharing knowledge, enhancing understanding and developing skills provides individuals with a greater sense of control over their world. In essence, I work from a common-sense framework, drawing from evidence-based therapies.

A conversation with Michelle McGee
-
I often get asked this question and it's a difficult one to answer. I have always felt that the profession chose me rather than the other way round. I didn't grow up thinking that I wanted to be a psychologist but here's where life lead me.
-
As a therapist I have heard hundreds of stories. I've been shown different sides of human nature and the impact it has - both good and bad. I've seen people rise above adversity. It definitely has helped me to have a better appreciation of differences and value of each individual.
-
Simply, just seeing people grow.
-
Of course, who doesn't.
-
In general, I think it's lack of understanding and appreciation of others.
-
I'm not sure really. It's people that inspire me - stories of resilience and seemingly impossible triumph.
