Philosophy & Vision
Over time, and through the development of a safe and containing therapeutic relationship, a healing conversation can evolve, where at times previously unconscious patterns of thinking, feeling and relating can emerge. This newfound insight into one's internal emotional world can lead to the development of a more secure sense of self and a capacity to explore and pursue new possibilities in life.
Background
In addition to my foundational study and training in psychology, I have undertaken extensive formal post graduate study and training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis with children and adolescents, as well as with adults. I also work with parents to help them better understand their child's behaviour as well as assisting them to identify and address any issues that may be impacting upon their parenting.
My professional experience extends over fifteen years and has included working within community and educational settings as well as in private practice.
Services

I hold registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and uphold the ethical guidelines established by both the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Psychoanalytical Society. Therapy Approach
The first few sessions will be spent getting to know you and exploring the nature of your concerns. Some time will then be spent discussing whether psychoanalytic psychotherapy is considered an appropriate treatment approach. If appropriate, a consistent and regular appointment time will be arranged. Given the nature of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, it is often beneficial to attend more than one session a week.
