Philosophy & Vision
As humans we are biologically hard-wired to form strong, close connections. Good relationships keep our brain at high function, reduce stress even physical pain. On an emotional level, we feel safe, secure when we know someone has our back or when the chips are down. But relationships can sometimes be challenging. Past experiences may affect our natural desire to form close bonds. Emotional and psychological pain is real but can heal within a therapeutic space of counselling or psychotherapy.

A conversation with Kim Bailey
-
It chose me. No, just kidding. But for the books, I was at a crossroad in my life and needed, yes needed to find a vocation that was meaningful and one that is also sense making. 10 years down the track, I am glad. It is both meaningful and sense making.

Atatchment based therapies, emotions and neuroscience
-
I use the therapeutic relationship first and foremost. Tracking the emotion in sessions, tying back to attachment and developmental trajectory, and staying present where the client is 'at', helping make sense of the stuck points or pain. There is always a sense of where the client is at. With permission from the client we explore the possibilities of hope and hoping.
-
When the bond/therapuetic relationship is intentionally talked about in the room.
-
Made me more accepting of being human with all its frailties.
-
Clients let me into their inner world, sometimes unexplored even to them and there is always, always beauty, kindness and love.
-
All the time. I have straight Asian hair and unbeknown to non Asians they are a nightmare to keep looking tidy!
