Philosophy & Vision
I believe that the hurt that can occur in relationships is best able to heal in relationships with oneself and others, relationships that are safe, secure and responsive ... healing in the space between. The importance of the space between often goes unnoticed in our lives. It's that pause for tea that allows for contemplation. It's that split second we take for courage when our therapist asks a hard question. It's that deep breath that helps us to find ourselves.
Background
I have worked clinically for 13 years within a government tertiary child & adolescent mental health clinic as well as non-government relationship counselling settings - providing therapy to individuals (adults, young people, children), couples and families. My research includes grief of mothers of those with intellectual disability, psychological and emotional abuse within families, and dialogical training.
I am an internationally credentialed supervisor and trainer in dialogical approaches to couple and family psychotherapy, and regularly provide these services to practitioners and mental health clinicians. In addition I have taught at postgraduate level, and published and presented nationally and internationally on clinical practice.
Services
I provide Individual Psychotherapy (Child, Adolescent, Adult), Couple and Family Therapy, Group Therapy, Clinical Supervision and Training.
Quality Provision
I have always had a keen interest in the interface of clinical practice and theoretical knowledge as it informs therapy sessions, and have done extensive training in both aspects of professional practice. This informs a therapeutic process that is both structured and responsive to the client's initial presenting problem and to their evolving therapeutic need. It also informs my provision of clinical supervision and training.
