I spent many years volunteering with Lifeline as a telephone crisis supporter. It was an absolute privilege to be able to listen to people's stories and to be invited into their lives for a brief moment. The sense of connection and ability to help people along their path was really rewarding. I sought out counsellor training so that I could continue to provide connection and support to people in a more ongoing way.

I am a person-centred counsellor, which means that I believe that every person has the potential to be their best, given the right kind of supportive environment. I provide a warm, supportive, and empathetic environment that allows clients to be themselves and to be supported as they work towards the changes that they want to make.
I also have skills in working in a solution-focused way, which is great for people who want to get cracking on making changes in their life right away. -
Many clients start to make progress even before they come to their first session! Just the act of making a booking shows courage and determination which can be a powerful force and motivation for change. On the other hand, some changes are very gradual and may come about months or even years after a session of therapy has completed.
I like to check in with my clients to make sure that they are finding value in each session. I am led by client preferences and feedback. Finding what works for each individual can sometimes take a bit of trial and error, but we will get there! -
My own personal therapy has helped me to see the ways in which my past has influenced my present behaviour. It has given me awareness and provided me with strategies to work towards becoming more of the person I want to be.

As a middle-aged man I am anticipating that my future will involve a lot of 'no hair' days, so I'm grateful for what hair I still have left.

The world is a tough place - it's difficult to narrow down all the problems to the one that is the most significant! I think a lot of it boils down to individuals in power that base their decisions on greed and self-interest rather than taking the time to be honest, vulnerable, caring, and compassionate.

I sing in a choir because I love making music and I love the way that music can affect performers and audiences alike. At the moment one of my favourite pieces is "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morten Lauridsen. I also love "A Boy and a Girl" by Eric Whitacre.
