A conversation with Jocelyn Brewer
-
I was teaching high school and the opportunity to retrain as a School Counsellor came up and I grabbed it. It was an opportunity to level-up on 'making a difference' in the lives of young people and their families.
-
The adolescent period and emerging adulthood, I enjoy working with young people who are grappling with a whole range of issues both personal and planetary!
-
I blend CBT with ACT and apply a range of approaches that best suit the client.
-
I enjoy the opportunity to attend therapy myself and reflect on my own growth, struggles and times of 'stuckness'. I find it's so valuable to have another person's perspective to help me check my own blindspots.
-
The absolute privilege of my client's trust and willingness to work on the 'big stuff' in their lives.
-
Never! I just know when to wear a beanie! :)
-
Losing our ability to connect and show compassion for others. Not necessarily because of the way technology has colonised our lives but certainly, this might have accelerated it.

My favourite film of all time is Picnic At Hanging Rock. Though I am a sucker for Frozen II (which is far better than the first one!)
