I initially become interested in psychology after reading self-help books in my late 20s. I found that I understood and enjoyed reading about human behaviour and psychology and it started from there. Since then I have continued my interest and passion for the field and continued learning.

Initially Carl Rogers in terms of his client centred approach was very influential. I was also influenced by the importance of emotions, attachment history and interpersonal issues affecting human lives and functioning. Positive psychology is also important in terms of developing individual strengths and focusing upon areas of developing greater resilience and life happiness.
-
I'm particularly interested in helping people reconnect with their own strengths and potential. Helping individuals develop their self-awareness, understanding and psychological awareness is important. In addition, working with individuals to heal from past difficulties and barriers is also a very satisfying area of therapy.
-
I use a combination of method which vary depending upon an individuals issues, needs and goals. I use a rogerian counselling base, CBT, ACT, emotion focused work and meta-cognitive therapy processes. I've also recently begun working using schema therapy approaches.
-
Clear progress is made when individuals present with less symptoms, better functioning and leading happier lives.
-
Therapy has made me a better person through greater self-awareness, emotional understanding and awareness and also resolution of past issues.
-
Getting to know people, their story and being able to help a person grow and develop. Seeing an individual developing.
-
I have ups and downs like everyone. I've had periods where I've had stress, relationship issues, anxiety and probably low mood. They are useful periods however as they help me understand myself and develop as a person. Being married with two children also gives me the benefit of many mistakes, learning and different insights.

Loneliness, disconnection, Covid and global instability seem to be factors most impacting today.

Seinfeld, bad humour and anything entertaining is regenerative.
All stories of people coming through adversity are insipiring.
