I have always been attracted to the helping professions, first in my nursing and whilst nursing I recognised that I was doing a lot to allay the anxiety of patients with their health issues. Hence, I decided to do a Diploma of Counselling followed by a Bachelor of Counselling and a Cert. 4 in Mental Health because of my interest in assisting people to improve their current situations.

I really believe in working collaboratively with clients in assisting them to activate their strengths and abilities. Sometimes life stressors can affect people's confidence and self esteem whereby they consider themselves somewhat incapable of achieving their desired outcomes. I assist in empowering them through activating their hidden strengths and abilities so that they can go onto achieve what they really are so capable of achieving. In building up a good rapport with clients they can establish trust in my assistance, thereby instilling hope in them as well as providing them with encouragement and reassurance. All in all, this enables them to build on their resilience and become successful in achieving their desired outcomes.

I support clients by working collaboratively with them and tailoring my therapy to address their holistic needs. Collectively, it looks into all aspects of the clients wellbeing. This holistic approach greatly assists clients in becoming empowered in all areas of their life to regain their balance and direction to become successful in achieving their desired outcomes.

I use predominantly solution focused strength based therapy with positive psychology techniques.

The clients usually starts to feel that progress can be made once rapport is established and it usually require about 6-8 sessions to amend their situation.

Therapy has made me a better person because it made me realise the benefit in seeking assistance promptly for my issues, as opposed to letting them manifest into more complicated issues which would otherwise have caused me additional grief and taken longer to resolve. Overall, it provided me with the opportunity to openly express my concerns and we worked collaboratively in addressing and seeking resolution for my issues.
-
I find it very rewarding being entrusted with assisting clients to improve their overall mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. It gives me great satisfaction and contentment in seeing how my solution focused and holistic approach that is tailored to their individual needs is assistive to them in finding their own solutions for achieving their desired outcomes.

Of course, I have had bad hair days, however I am resilient and don't allow a bad hair day to impact my day. By remaining focused on the task of assisting clients I find it easy to distract myself from any unnecessary hairdo malfunctions that day.

People today sometimes lose sight of the important things in life by focusing on the material things instead of the all important connection with family, love and friendship, as well as demonstrating their resilience in always having hope for tomorrow.

The 'Pursuit of Happyness' book really inspired me as it clearly portrays the message to never give up having hope for the future, despite the adversities that you need to overcome. By developing more resilience in ourselves we can achieve great things in life.
