Philosophy & Vision
I work with clients to harness their own resilience and strength to overcome challenges and achieve their short or long term goals. My philosophy is strength based using cognitive behavioural based therapies to create insight with the purpose of eliciting change in unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns. I listen to the client's specific needs, tailor the sessions to empower, to overcome obstacles and effect positive change. It is ultimately your journey, I am there to assist and guide.
Background
I was born in Denmark and have called the Northern Beaches home for the past 20 years. I moved to Australia as a 20 year old where I commenced my studies and completed both a Business Degree and a Psychotherapy Degree. I have over a decade of experience in the field.

A conversation with Conny Davis
-
I have always had an interest in how people harness the strength to overcome adversity and how life experiences affect people differently. I have been inspired by working as a volunteer for young people with addiction issues from broken homes and having people close to me struggling with various issues peaked my interest and desire to study Psychotherapy and the human change process.
-
I believe in every persons ability to be the master of their own life, to create fulfilment and live with purpose and a better awareness of what makes meaning to them and not be swayed by outside influences, instead develop insight and self-efficacy.
-
I really am interested in all aspects of the human journey, if I had to pick a particular one at this point of time it would be, how the family system has a long lasting effect on our coping mechanisms, attachment to others and our view of the world and ourselves. The other thing that occupies my time presently is how powerful our communication or lack thereof is in couples conflict.
-
I am a trained Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, however I used a collaborative holistic and trauma informed approach utilising narrative therapy as well as family systems therapy. I will tailor my approach to whatever the client needs in the session.
-
It would be when the client feels that some of the issues that they presented with initially have started to subside and they have developed some insight and learnt new approaches to live a better life for themselves.
-
It has given me a rich insight into my own family dynamics and made me acutely aware of my own core beliefs and values. It has given me a deep understanding of everyones unique qualities and taught me to accept what is.
-
Being able to sit with clients and offer them non-judgemental and unconditional support whilst actively listening and walking with them along paths, exploring new opportunities and leaving them self directed and strong.
-
Who doesn't, it goes with being human, being vulnerable, real and, imperfect.
-
Too many outside influences that makes us feel insignificant, always comparing ourselves to others and attachment to materials; the loss of healthy human and community attachments.
