Philosophy & Vision
I see psychotherapy as a collaborative journey of self discovery that can lead to a more engaged and meaningful life. As we are all unique beings, each of us will do this differently. My privilege as a therapist is to offer you support on this exciting and unique journey, in a caring and non judgemental environment.
Background
My therapy practice is informed by my deep interest in the human condition, extensive formal study across a range of disciplines and diverse work and life experience that includes nursing/midwifery, international social development, documentary film making and volunteer work. I also draw on more than 25 years of engagement with the Eastern traditions of mindfulness and chi kung meditation.
Services
I specialise in counselling and psychotherapy with individuals across a range of issues.
Quality Provision
I have regular supervision, attend professional development workshops and pursue my own formal and informal learning. As a clinical member of PACFA I adhere to their ethical codes for professional conduct.

I have always had a deep interest in who we are as human beings and how we live our lives, how we see ourselves in each of our worlds and how we present ourselves to others. This fascination led me to study psychology at Sydney University. After a year I realised this subject could not (for me) fully account for the nuances in human nature. I switched to Italian language and literature. In the post graduate world I ambled through several degrees until I came upon psychotherapy. It was here I found more meaningful ways to talk about and understand what it means to be human.

I love the Japanese idea of Kintsugi where repairing a broken object with gold, transforms what appears damaged or imperfect into something beautiful. This art form is given time, attention and respect.
For me this is a beautiful metaphor for life. We all face suffering, but how we engage with our problems, can make all the difference.
To acknowledge and embrace our troubles, to give them time and care, can transform them into inner strengths.

Currently reading The Year of Magical Thinking, by Joan Dideon, about her journey of grief after losing her husband John Dunne. Beautifully observed and very readable too.
I have just finished the Neapolitan Quartet, four books by Elena Ferrante. It is a compelling and epic story of friendship between Lila and Lenu.
Anything written by the Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh uplifts and inspires me.
