Philosophy & Vision
I will work with you at your own pace in a compassionate empathic manner to help you understand yourself better and what stops you from having the life you want. This can help you to increase your ability to make choices for yourself, feel better, and find meaning in life. My main interest in is in Psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic therapies but I also integrate other approaches into my clinical work using evidence-based methods grounded in current research on mental health.
Background
I am a fully registered psychologist with over 15 years of experience in a variety of settings such as inpatient psychiatric wards, university clinics, community organisations, teaching psychology students in a university, and private practice with a range of issues including: drug and alcohol problems, mood disorders, psychological trauma, sexual difficulties, anxiety disorders, stress management, spiritual/life meaning, men's issues, psychosomatic difficulties, coping with physical illness, family conflict, and parenting problems. I have also conducted scientific research into spirituality and anxiety at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane.
Services
Individual Adult/Psychotherapy. I also provide clinical supervision. Sessions are 50 minutes in duration.
Quality Provision
In order to provide you with the best possible service and care, I undergo regular professional supervision and engage in constant professional development in evidence-based psychological therapies. This is done via training seminars, workshops, and clinical supervision as recommended by The Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Therapy Approach
My approach to psychotherapy is based on psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, which means I try to help you make sense of your experience, understand repetitive patterns in your life, find meaning, and feel better.
I am influenced by both traditional and contemporary psychoanalytic theory including: Object Relations, Jungian and Post-Jungian Analytical Psychology, Self-Psychology, and Intersubjectivity Theory. I also have a strong interest in psychotherapy integration. I try to work collaboratively and empathically with patients to find an evidence-based approach that works best for you. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Mindfulness-based strategies into my clinical work.

The practice is close to public transport options and is located just behind Central Railway Station. There is also metered street parking available (this is somewhat limited) and some paid parking is available in nearby multi-level parking stations.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Fees & Insurance
The standard hourly rate is $200, Medicare and some private health fund rebates may be available. The current Medicare rebate available for my services is $86.15 per consultation. Please be aware that this practitioner does not bulk-bill.
Payment Options
Payment is made at the time of the session and I accept cash, cheque, EFTPOS, MasterCard, Visa, and American Express.
