Philosophy & Vision
I am a registered psychologist, clinical supervisor and psychoanalyst having completed many years of additional training and personal analysis to offer treatments. My treatment approach is based in Lacanian psychoanalysis, which is a once-and-for-all process dealing directly with what causes suffering including anxiety, depression, relationship issues and addictions. Anxiety encompasses a spectrum of thoughts and experiences, such as panic attacks, worry and uncertainty about life's direction. Physical symptoms may include breathlessness, palpitations, insomnia and fatigue. Unlike the ambiguity of happiness or sadness, anxiety is a given, when our positions in the world shifts suddenly, and our self-perception undergoes a transformation. We lose reliance on others to tell us what to do, and can no longer use their desires as a compass to orient ourselves. This leaves us feeling uncertain, fearful, in pain, unsure of our place.
Background
I have over 15 years experience working in clinical and professional settings. I have a broad and diverse clinical interest and life experience. I am a full member of the Australian Psychological Society. I offer treatment to children, adolescents and adults.
Services
People come initially with many diverse issues and bring whatever concern with themselves to their sessions. We have some sessions initially to talk. It is impossible to say on the outset what the treatment is going to be, or how we might work together without us talking first. There is no manual or one size fits all. The difference is made in the sessions after some time when you talk and I listen very carefully. People I treat express a desire to take ownership over some matter, that has occupied their mind for some time. This is something that becomes pressing for someone, something that repeats in the person’s life. This may be problematic or painful but not accessible to the person for many reasons.
Quality Provision
Becoming a psychoanalyst has required a serious commitment to ongoing supervision and many years of intensive and rigorous personal analysis with my own psychoanalyst and working with colleagues on clinical material.

Therapy Approach
Psychoanalytic therapy / psychoanalysis works with developing an understanding of the person and the contributions of their history in the present time. The psychoanalyst or therapist who has had his or her own psychoanalysis directs the treatment by listening and working with the person to work through the issues that present in the therapeutic relationship or in the transference.
