Philosophy & Vision
Do you ever wonder what's holding you back from moving towards the life you desire? Are you feeling stressed, anxious and burnt out? I understand that life gets tough and that finding a therapist can be a difficult task. My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy, curiosity and creativity. I typically work with clients experiencing burn-out, loss, depression, trauma, grief and anxiety using a person-centred and narrative approach. I want to work with you to rediscover that vital, creative spark, or perhaps encounter it for the first time. I hold a M. Counselling and a PhD. I'm a published writer and teacher of writing and can bring aspects of Writing Therapy, Bibliotherapy, journalling and poetry to our time together. I look forward to working with you.
Background
I have a background in publishing poetry and writing under the pen name "Ivy Ireland." I've worked as a poet, performer, bookseller, and teacher of writing at university and have created a series of workshops based around writing and therapy. I hold a PhD in creative writing and am also a mother, so understand how challenging (and rewarding) family life as a creative soul can get.
