Philosophy & Vision
Embracing difference is an integral part of the existential approach. Life is messy, unpredictable, and sometimes overwhelming. In therapy, we can examine how we live our lives, what is missing and potentially what can be fulfilling and meaningful.
I believe new potential possibilities arrive in the in-between spaces of what we are experiencing and how we approach our life situations. So many factors play in the complex symphony of change, competing and conflicting demands requiring us to choose a way that will shape how we live in the world.
By paying careful attention to what is possible and embracing and challenging those limitations, working through the layers becomes therapy's focus, pointing us towards hope and a meaningful life.
Background
I have been in private practice for almost 27 years. My professional life has progressed since I began nursing in psychiatry, oncology, and bone marrow transplants in the 1980s and 90s. And I bring over 35 years of experience working with people from diverse issues and backgrounds. I am a registered clinical supervisor to individuals, teams, and groups in organisations.
My approach is collaborative in that together, we will come to understand your life situation with a nonjudgmental attitude of curiosity and openness. The therapy approach is humanistic, meaning we discover and unravel together the complex inner world of your life to assist you in finding a healthy and meaningful resolution.
Services
Change Happens offers a unique and targeted therapy approach for men seeking individual and same-sex relationship therapy. Working with men is a specialised field of therapy with many competing and complex issues, often stemming from early childhood and as young adults.
My approach is embedded in existential phenomenology, which means I meet each person as unique. I tend to avoid labels and diagnoses and work from a relational level of inquiry.
At Change Happens Sydney, I offer a safe place where you can explore and discover the real you without judgment. My role is to help you find the way forward beyond those limitations that best fit how you want to live your life and the kind of relationship you are seeking.
Quality Provision
I regularly undertake clinical supervision while attending ongoing professional development training and updates for registration each year.
I adhere to their codes of ethics and professional development requirements. I believe learning is an ongoing process. Wisdom emerges through engaging with life.

Therapy Approach
I am trained in several theoretical approaches and adapt my work to meet your needs while working holistically. The underlying principle of my work is strongly influenced by Existential Philosophy.
Existentialism and existential therapies are not just one thing; they are a whole family or genre of various approaches and perspectives on a range of questions—such as meaning, purpose, spirituality, life, and so much more. The focus of the in-betweenness of the relationship is explored and developed as we work together towards healing.
Together, we will explore the choices you have made knowingly and unknowingly, and from this point, you can decide if you are ready to take steps towards healing and changing your life.
